Judgments

The Federal Administrative Court (FAC) hears public law disputes pertaining to matters falling under the authority of the Federal Administration. A very broad range of subject areas is covered, ranging from asylum to customs. Each year, the FAC issues over 7,500 judgments. It publishes its substantive judgments on the Internet. Procedural decisions are published if they are of interest to the public.

Proceedings are conducted in one of Switzerland's four national languages, with the language of the contested administrative decision being used in the complaints proceedings. If the parties use a different official language, then the proceedings may take place in that language.

In the interest of ensuring the quality of judgments and efficiency, each of the FAC's six divisions is assigned to handle a specific set of subject areas. More information about these can be found in the section Organisation/Divisions.
